Abstract

The Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry will benefit significantly from integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR) technologies. This paper explores the immense potential of AI-enhanced XR in tackling the industry challenges. While AI and XR are currently employed independently, this paper proposes a framework for their integration, aiming to optimize resource allocation, elevate safety protocols, and enhance project accuracy. Supported by a SWOT analysis, the study presents practical implications and proposed use cases showcasing the application of AI and XR in AEC projects. The paper provides a strategic roadmap for integrating AI-driven XR, emphasizing its potential to drive immediate and sustainable advancements in construction practices and set new industry benchmarks for innovation and efficiency.
